Time management is the process of planning and exercising conscious control of time spent on specific tasks. To increase efficiency and productivity that leads to career success.


Freelancers need to boost time they have to grow and proper time management skills to do that. This is one of the biggest battles that we are facing not only freelancers to prioritize things or tasks to achieve specific goals. There are time management tools that can help us to be more efficient.

Identify Priorities and Stick to It


We all have different commitments and priorities for our work, business, family and for yourself. We need to know our priority for us to treasure and what to value. We just need to know which is important and urgent so that you can do this task right away. Things that are important and not urgent can be done next. For not important and urgent we can delegate this task if possible. And lastly not urgent and not important can be set aside to do it later. This will give you a clear direction on what to start first. This can also give you time management benefits in your daily activity.


Plan Ahead


If you don't plan ahead you will end up doing things that are not valuable and a waste of time..

Planning ahead means you don't have to worry about what will happen tomorrow or next week or so. You are the one responsible for your own time. You have your own routine to be more efficient and productive.

We need to make sure to start everyday with a clear idea of what we need to do for that day. It takes preparation, hard work and learning from failures. Have a schedule for the day and go into details and assign specific time to finish the task and stick to your routine.


Eliminate Distraction


Social media sites and Facebook are the leading distractors that stray us from our focus. Distractors are one of the biggest productivity killers. Like having an internet that can easily access these sites, we attempt to browse not knowing that we are spending more than 5 minutes scrolling. We need to have self discipline to stray yourself from doing things that are not written on your schedule.


Delegate Task and Chores


Trying to do things on your own may result in poor quality and missed deadlines. It is still better to delegate the task to lessen the burden. Delegating chores can be the ultimate key to giving you some time back for other things you want to do.


Evaluate at the End of the Day


Assess yourself on things that you had accomplished and things you missed on that day. Check on your schedule to identify the things that you missed, you finished and the things that took you a long time to finish. This will be your guide for improvement and better scheduling.


Creating a Checklist for the Next Day


A checklist helps you be prepared and put things in order. It will help you know what to do first and what's more important. Advantage of having a checklist is you save time on your to do things, it will increase your productivity knowing which should be done first and it motivates us to take action and complete the task.

Rest


After all the hard work and getting things done. Rewards can be a good motivator in time management. To give yourself rest, vacation, sleep or not doing anything at all gives you time to relax. Rewards keep us motivated on a job and give life work balance.
